Saw McCain's and Obama's speeches. McCain was much funnier and more moving. Really countered the negative slide he has had in my estimation over these past months. I wish he could be more like he was in that speech.
Did you see it? What did you think? |
Here's a link.
http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/10/obama_mccain_share_laughs_at_d.html I just watched it. I think McCain was funnier. Be's the better comedian, and he has the sarcasm and snark down pat! I appreciated his comments in sincerity at the end, positive things he had to say about Obama. Obama was the less effective comedian IMO. If I had to pay to see one of the other at a Comedy Club, I'd prefer to see McCain. But I felt Obama was in effect still campaigning -- talking about how real people are really hurting, right outside the walls of the dinner party. And his comments about the cost of the fancy dinner and comparison to the AIG execs going off on a luxury vacatin -- that seems like it kind of fell flat-- maybe not too funny given the circumstances. I actually appreciated Obama's comments more, even though they weren't quite as funny and sarcastic as McCain's (Obama did get in some good digs though!) |
I actually thought they were both really funny, I enjoyed watching it, it was a nice break from all the tense debates. |
McCain was definitely better. No question. I loved his jokes re the Clintons. I agree that Obama was more political and that that fell a little flat. But I enjoyed watching both of them and they both had some good lines. Sorry, John . . .Still voting for Barack "Steve" Obama. |
Hillary thought McCain was better - she almost fell out of her chair!
|
Especially at this line: "I just know Bill would like to be out there now stumping for Barack until the last hour of the last day. Unfortunately, he is constrained by his respect for any voters who might be observing the Zoroastrian New Year." |
my favorite was when he looked out in the audience for supporters and found . . .Hillary. |
here's the start of McCain's speech

I randomly started watching and thought McCain was hilarious! I would love to see him with Tina Fey after all this is over. Imagine! ![]() ![]() Obama was, as usual, presidential. Although he did show an edge in some of the jokes that sounded more like the dozens than a politico roast. Yeah, and that AIG was a real lead balloon. Although the Bloomberg subway was kinda funny. I was hoping Obama would have been more like he was on the Ellen Degeneres show. Now that was comedy we can believe in... |
Yeah, dance Barry dance! ![]() |
