Where do you file your nails?

My SIL is visiting and currently filing her nails while sitting on my nursery glider. I am thoroughly grossed out by this. Reasonable or not?

Over the chair or holding them out over the floor? If the latter, it wouldn't bother me too much. Unless the baby is crawling.

In the bathroom. Sometimes while I'm sitting on the couch, but I'll a lay towel down over my legs.

I'd be grossed out too.

Really? Because toenail clippings can at least be picked up and thrown away. Nail filings get into the carpet and fabric, which I think is grosser.

My parents do it at my dining room table or in my kitchen. It is disgusting and no matter how many times I tell them to STOP DOING THAT, they come back for another visit and start filing away. I do it in my bathroom. That's the only place.

In my car. With one of those faux pumice stone things. I am trying to break a lifelong, disgusting habit of biting my nails and tearing my cuticles. Wen I get the urge to destroy, out comes the pumice, at signal lights only or while I am in the long carpool line.

You realize that much of the dust is dead skin. There are much grosser things to be found in the common human home.

Are people really grossed out by this? That is so interesting to me to learn! It never occurred to me some people (maybe most?) would feel this way. I am from another country, different culture and have never noticed this phoneme there. I will try to pay attention when I travel overseas now to see how other culture behave. Just out of curiosity.
