Seems that the posts have shown students need similar cogat and NNAT scores to be accepted- or higher cogat scores at least. If anyone had their child accepted with those specs please advise. Thanks. |
I think this year is different than past years bc of the FxAT. |
+1 No one can really answer the OP's question as this is the first year using the FxAT. |
OP here- I was referring to the cogat from previous years and the NNAT.... Anyone have a child with similar specs? |
The CogAT scores from years previous cannot be directly compared with this year's FxAT scores. See: http://www.fcps.edu/is/aap/pdfs/FAQre2012CustomizedCogAT.pdf |
Seems unfair to the youngest students in second grade who took the FxAT. They were taking a test with classmates who, in many cases, were more than 12 months older than them. Having an extra year of life is a lot of experiences. Especially affecting the verbal section of the FxAT.
Will the committee take into account the young ones? I think it's only fair. |
I hope so. I have one of those boys. He did great on NNAT and non verbal FxAT. We WISC'd him because his FxAT VQN was 84%. WISC was 143. His DRA was at the max tested each year.
Guess we will find out in a month or so, eh? |
+1 My DC (Aug. birthday) had a tremendous NNAT, did great in quantitative and non-verbal (FxAT) but not so well in verbal. We had DC take the WISC, knocked it out of the park. Ironically, the verbal part of WISC was DC's best subscore. Waiting for GBRS and placement decisions, hoping that age will be taken into consideration by the committee. |
Would you mind telling me Where you went for the WISC? |
