And are you getting tired of it?
Usually I just hang up but I listened to the last one. He is promoting himself as a representative of Obama! Okay, fine, except that he is supposed to be running as an independent! I don't know why I should care whether people manipulate their ways around a requirement that Congress imposed on us. After all, I don't even agree with it. But Michael Brown just seems determined to get elected somehow somewhere and it really bothers me. For those of you unfamiliar with this, Congress requires DC to keep two spaces on council reserved for non-majority parties -- thus this is usually affirmative action for the Republican Party (and in the past, the Statehood Party). But Michael Brown, who is really a Democrat, has filed as an independent this year. No doubt he hopes to take advantage of Carol Schwartz having been deposed by Patrick Mara in the Republican Primary. Okay -- here's a request I have for those of you who know DC politics. Tell me why I should vote for Michael Brown. I have found his opportunism so annoying that I have a hard time looking at the issues. As far as I can tell, he hasn't been engaged much at a lower level and has been looking only to participate at a high level (ran for mayor, now running for council) but am I wrong about that? Also are there other candidates in the At-Large race I should look at? Right now I'm planning on writing in Carol Schwartz and voting for David Schwartzman (Green-Statehood) but I haven't looked much at the issues. So educate me. What do DCUMers think? |
That's what I'm doing as well. I have a rule that I never vote for anyone who robo-called me. I've been robo-called by Michael Brown three times. Kwame Brown is permanently banned from getting my vote because during his first campaign his robo-caller when crazy and called me about 20 times (hanging up almost every time). |
At least six and maybe more robocalls here. I always think it's the notorious FEMA guy.
|
Ditto. |
Wow, never thought I'd split my votes between a Republican and Green but I see I'm in good company! ![]() |
OP again. I just got my sixth robocall from Michael Brown today. This one just happened to mention that he was the son of Ron Brown, a high-ranking official in the Clinton administration. Wow, I never knew that (she said sarcastically). |
I received another call also. This one actually started out saying "Hello again", at which point I hung up.
|
I got another one today. I didn't put my ear up to the phone. I just looked at the caller ID, picked up and immediately hung up.
That makes at least seven calls for me. |
Got my seventh call just now. Michael Brown pointing out that DC had rejected Republican leadership by not re-electing Carol Schwartz. Er...Earth to Michael, Schwartz lost in the Republican primary to another Republicanso DC could hardly have been said to have rejected Republican leadership. (In fact, Schwartz's problem was that she wasn't Republican enough.)
Oh yeah, and he reminded me to vote for Barack Obama. Thanks, Michael, I was really worried that would slip my mind. |
Got my eighth call today. A mom and her daughter are out gardening and they see Michael Brown coming down the street. Mom tells daughter how wonderful Michael Brown is. There is sweet music playing in the background.
Michael Brown, stop calling me!!!!! |
I received the mom and daughter call as well- it was number 7 today. Too much! |
LOL- Jeff- if you were at my house- you would HAVE to NOT vote for obama- between the robocalls and the in door calls- it has been well- annoying (extreme overkill from Obama).. So Jeff- knowing your views- would you really still to that if you lived in VA suburbs and truly had a HUGE amount of Obama robocalls? I'd like to hear this since you were so clear on your rule on never voting for anyone who robo-called you.. |
Is there anyway that all of this can be forwarded to Brown's campaign office? I've had it, too.... at least 10 calls in recent weeks/ days. |
I got this one today and it made me laugh so hard. Bizarre. Totally weird. Kinda loved it. |
I'm not Jeff, but if you'd like, I promise to come down from DC on election day and, in your place, not vote for Obama. That will leave you free to vote for him. In fact, if you'd like, I'll drive you to the polls to vote for him; no problem, that's what I'm planning to come down there for, anyway. More seriously, DC will be none the worse for not having M Brown on the Council -- we're likely to have one Brown on there anyway. On the other hand, we only have one way to get a brown into the Oval Office, so I hope you will overlook the annoying calls. They can't possibly be as annoying as that conspiratorial whisperer in McCain's ads about how scary Obama is.. |
