Religion Forum?

I see a lot of threads started about religion in the Off Topic section. Would it be worth it to have a separate religion section where people could post questions about various faiths, different churches in the areas, etc?

Humm, I'd have to give this some thought. A lot of the religion threads are very contentious and cause a lot of hurt feelings. What do others think?

OP here.

I think that having things in a separate section would cut back on hurt feelings, since those going to that section know that threads would be exclusively for religious discussion. People wouldn't have to search through pages of questions about their baby's pooping habits to find recommendations for churches/synagogues/other religious temples in their area.

I would enjoy having a religion forum...I was actually just debating posting a question about religion this morning.

I kind of agree that it may just cut down on the rancor b/c, as the 20:39 poster said, people who are interested in a particular religion could go to the appropriate thread. I think this could be a potentially very interesting idea. . .

I like this idea a great deal. I have questions that I'd like to post but I am afraid of just opening up a whole new kettle of fish as things stand now.

FWIW, I feel the opposite. I think a Religion forum might be a magnet for people wanting to start trouble. Potentially.

OP again.

I don't see this happening any more than people intentionally starting trouble on other threads on other forums. There will always be trolls, always be bored people at home wanting to stir the pot. If this new forums happens, there will need to be come clear cut rules about respect and what is okay and not okay to say.
