I've worked 10+ years doing litigation and beginning to feel burned out. I would like to transition to an in-house or government position for a change of pace and new experience. Where should I look?
|
| for in house, try the Association of Corporate Counsel site - it has listings for in house positions |
| Linkedin has listings also. |
|
Make sure your profile on LInked in is up-to-date and check regularly to link yourself to your contacts (new people are constantly joining and coming online to Linked In). Linked In has a kind of newsfeed that includes a lot of job postings - they are targeted and honestly, are pretty good at figuring out what positions you might fit.
And . . . I am in-house now, was actually approached for my current job by a former colleague through an email sent via Linked In. |
| Many companies list job postings directly on their websites. It can be tedious to look through though. |
|
This headhunter's website lists in-house openings:

| Fair warning: there are far fewer openings in-house for litigators than for transactional lawyers. Not saying they don't exist, but they are rarer. One idea is, if you have litigated within a certain industry, is to target companies/trade groups within that industry to show the transferability of your skills. |
| Any recommendations for recruiters that specialize in litigators that want to move in house in the DC area? TIA. |
