Femoral neuropathy

I had a postpartum femoral neuropathy for my first baby. Both legs were numb and I couldn't walk stairs for two and a half months after I had the baby. My left knee still feels numb from time to time but other than that I have fully recovered. I was wondering if this happened to other moms and how they delivered their second baby. I am pregnant with my second baby and I have been told the only way to guarantee not reinjuring my femoral nerve would be to do a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks. Just looking to see if anyone has experienced what I am talking about and how their second birth went. Or did they try for a vaginal birth? Any stories would be greatly appreciated.

Amazing with the volume of people in this area not a single person has experienced this. Maybe it is just widely misdiagnosed. It's otherwise known as numbness in knees, pain in quadriceps caused by damage to the femoral nerve in hip.

Sorry I don't have any info. I did get a drop foot from my recent birth. Can't flex my left foot back all the way and I walk a little funny still. 3 weeks later, the nerve hasn't totally healed or reconnected or whatever, but it's getting better slowly. Is there a specialist you can talk to?

Did you see a neurologist? That's who I would ask about odds or reinjury.

Odd of, not or.

Yes, I have spoken and seen a neurologist. He will not give me a definitive answer on whether I should have a c section. However, one OB in my practice, who has a lot more experience than the other doctor's said I should have a csection and the risk of reinjury is there with a vaginal birth. I wanted to reach out and see who on this forum has had postpartum femoral neuropathy to see if there second pregnancy went better than the first. What nerve was injured for you to get a drop foot? Was it from a vaginal birth?
