Thoughts on Potomac School

Most of the recent feedback on this board seems to be about the admissions process, which I would agree was somewhat cold. What do people who have been there think about the climate and academics? Parent community? I'm especially interested in hearing from people who started in K and choose to continue, or those who decided to go elsewhere for HS.

My family does not have any children at Potomac. We are close enough to the school that we know many families there. I do know two families that took their DC out at high school. They had been there since early years and in both cases seemed to want a fresh start, change for the HS. One went to public, one to another private. One family described the community as too insular for the long haul, and DC wanted to see what life was like at other schools.

I don't think you can say this scenario is specific to Potomac at all. That is the downside of K-12s and some kids do leave for other HSs at all of them.

16:27 - for those who left for HS, did they have a good experience in elementary/middle and just want a change, chance to "reinvent"? Were they well prepared for HS at another school?
