Feedback on Washington Latin

I would like some objective feedback about Washington Latin. I hear it is vastly improved, but questions remain. What are those questions? Specifically, I would like to hear about the Chinese and French programs and the science classes. Is there a sense that most families are using it for middle school or both middle and high school? We will be comparing it with private school options.

I know several people with children there. The children enjoy it (they're all in middle school), and the parents are very happy with the new Head of School. The upper school is moving or has moved to the old British School campus, which relieves some of the space concerns. One thing to keep in mind is that the homework load is very heavy.

The school is trying to figure out what program to offer for high school -- they are trying to decide between AP courses and IB.

DC is happy there, challenged and with inspiring, committed teachers.

Is the school offering Chinese or just French?

Both Chinese and French, the modern language instruction starts in 8th grade.

My understanding is that they have also brought on a second Chinese teacher.

Perhaps you should attend an open house to get the full scoop on high school and facilities plans. I don't think they've made all the decisions yet, but you will get a good feel for the school that way.
