Sidwell 9th grade

Can anyone shed light on the workload? I hear there is quite a lot of work with little time for extracurriculars.

Depends on how focused/efficient the kid is, and what classes are chosen. My DD was new to the school for 9th, and she ended up choosing/being placed in very challenging classes by reputation (biology 1A, the most accelerated math track that resulted in her taking multivariate calculus senior year and BC calc junior year, and a difficult language class because she tested well in Spanish but couldn't understand or speak as well as she read). She worked hard, but it was not overwhelming, English and history were not super demanding, and she played varsity sports all three seasons, and out of school music and reasonably serious club sports, she didn't have much time to goof off but she did have an active social life after beginning to meet people and it was not a hard transition. The work/stress ramps up to peak in 11th grade. My DD was super efficient, did a lot of work in school during free periods, and did not watch TV or spend time on Facebook really at all, that helped.
