Moving from Government Contracting to commercial Sector in IT any one do it?

I have the opportunity to move from a government contracting IT job to a commercial job or to another mid sized more stable government contractor.

Anyone do this? Would you do it even though it meant losing clearances? The pay is the same both ways but the commercial job may be more hours,
