I had a miscarriage in December and my cycles are long and irregular since. I want to try OPKs this cycle, either Wondfo or the Early Pregnancy Tests brand. I'm thinking I'd need to use several per cycle, hence the cheap brands, to keep the costs to a more affordable level. Does anyone have experience with these brands, and which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance. |
Trust me on this. The ClearBlue ones with the smiley face are the only brand worth bothering with. I've tried that expensive monitor thing that you buy refills for, the cheapo paper mail order things, and everything in between. They work, but the interpretation is tricky. When I finally heard about the ClearBlue ones I realized I'd been baby dancing several days too early for about six months, because I was having trouble telling when the two lines were of equal thickness and color. You can buy these in packages of 20. Once I got a handle on my ovulation window, I only needed 5 or so a month and that included testing twice a day sometimes. |
So sorry about your loss OP. I also had a miscarriage in December. It's very hard. I've found the Wondfo to work fine for me. One thing you could do if you want double confirmation is to buy the wondfos and the Clearblue Smiley face ones. Use the wondfos regularly, and when you get what looks like a positive, double check with the Clearblue. I did that and found that I was reading the Wondfos correctly. (Or, at least the tests gave the same results). It saves a little money in the long run. Good luck. |
I've had great results from the early pregnancy test strips. If you have any doubt whether they're positive, then they are NOT. A true positive is quite clear. |
OP: Thank you all for the suggestions! Good luck to everyone. |

This. |

OP: Thanks for all the responses.
I have another question - sorry to seem dumb, as I said I'm new to this. If testing twice a day, what's your regimen? The instructions says to hold urine for 4 hours before testing. That would be ok in the morning, but what about in the evening? Sounds like it would get pretty uncomfortable. |
If you read (or google) the directions, you'll learn you're not supposed to use FMU. When I use them, I aim for 10am and 8pm and I've never held for more than an hour or two. The only annoying thing for me testing at work, but I just bought a box of little Dixie cups and tried to quietly conduct my little science experiment in the last stall. |
Yup. Buy them on amazon. If you're at all regular you only need 3-4 a month at most. The holding it thing isn't necessary either. Good luck! |
