A friend is trying to become pregnant on her own doing iui and using a sperm donor. Does anyone have recommendations for a midwife in Bethesda that could help her with iui? Thanks. |
Can a midwife do an iui? In a proper IUI the sperm are washed and made to be super-mobile one hour prior to the IUI procedure. Where is she getting the sperm? If she's getting them from an RE, why wouldn't they do they do the IUI?
Does she have a personal donor who's going to give a sample and then a midwife insert it? Is she trying to save money? Sorry for all the questions, this just sounds wrong on a whole lot of different levels. The infertility board may have better answers for you. |
Agree with PP. Is there a legal agreement in place? This is not the area to save time and cut costs. There is a recent story about a sperm donor getting hit with child support b/c while they did have a legal agreement it was voided b/c the insemination was done at home vs by a Dr. These are not things to be taken lightly. Your friend needs a reproductive lawyer. |
She should just have sex with him. She would probably have a better chance of getting pregnant that way than with a home IUI. |
