Jogging stroller

Anonymous
I've been toying with the idea of getting a jogging stroller for awhile. I work full time, so would only use it on the weekends and am not totally sure I would like it, in terms of weight and the limitations on where I can run (I live about 1 mile from Rock Creek Park and really enjoy going on trails, although I also run on streets/RCP when closed to traffic). But, I also like the idea of just loading the boy into a stroller and running (and not having to plan on my husband's availability/fairness on who has had time alone) and think it could be nice in the future, since the nice playgrounds seem to be about 1-1.5 miles from our house. The downsides are cost and storage (we have a small row house).

Thoughts?

I love my jogger. I used for all of my short runs while marathon training- I could run after work for 30 minutes without having to wait for DH to come home, and I often take him with me on the weekends. I really don't mind running with it at all (and as an added bonus, because I'm so used to pushing the extra weight around, my races are way faster when I run without it!) As for storage, we live in a small condo so I just keep it in the trunk of my car. The cost was high, but it was totally worth it for us. Now I'm pregnant with #2 and we have to start thinking about a double

If you can get a used one on Craig's List go for it.

Baby Jogger Summit...we live in a 1 bedroom so every inch counts. Has a handbrake which I like on the DC hills.

It's a killer workout, so I say go for it. I've been running for years, and was surprised both at how challenging it is and how efficient for getting in shape. You could easily get a cheaper one off Craigslist, or a used BOB (still not inexpensive). We also live not too far from RCP, and I do nice six mile loops on the weekends with my daughter. I use our Chicco S3, which isn't marketed as a jogging stroller but works fine.

Yup I scored a used bob on craiglist. Great run... And I will be faster without the extra 25lbs

Thanks everyone! I ordered the stroller last weekend and am excited to try it out this weekend. I'm hoping it doesn't rain, b/c I didn't buy the rain canopy...

NP here, have avoided a jogging stroller simply for the storage issue mentioned by OP. Never thought of the car-trunk-storage option, thank you!
