MSA make-up policy

How are the make-ups done? My kid was sick yesterday and missed Day 1. I know from past years at the school, the make-up is done in the media center. Since kids this week aren't getting HW, will we also be exempt from the HW during the make-up test?

I was asking someone this question yesterday. Probably there will be homework, but you could send in a note. Or call and ask. They might say yes.

Ask (or tell) his teacher--he should be exempt from the homework if he is making up the test. They might also have him make it up during one of the 5th grade testing days. If there is no HW all week, even on 5th grade days, it won't matter.

(assuming he is in 3rd/4th grade)

OP back. Thanks. Yes, we're talking 3rd/4th grade. 5th grade testing is scheduled for Wed-Thursday this week and Tuesday-Wednesday next week. Of course, my guess is that MCPS will be closed Wed. and Thursday. And possibly Friday this week. I found the make-up days, according to Maryland State Dept. of Education, begin March 14 (day after 5th grade testing ends at our school.)

FYI--the contingency plan if school is closed (or delayed) Wednesday and/or Thursday is to simply to push everything back. So if school is closed Wednesday, 5th grade testing would start Thursday and 3/4 math would be Monday and Tuesday, not Friday and Monday.

The make-up days are there for make-ups, obviously, but there's a chance the school will want to save them, and if it's possible to give a kid a make-up on another testing day, they may choose that. But either way, I would contact his teacher and arrange for him to exempt from his homework the night before his makeup, so that he "can get plenty of rest."
