| Anyone else have a horrible time with bleeding after D&C. I just had a missed miscarriage around 12/13 weeks. 3-4 days after D & C I had a ton of bleeding. Anyone with similar situation? |
| So sorry for your loss. I had a similar loss at 11 weeks about 5 years ago. So hard. I didn't bleed much, but know many that did. There is a wide range of normal in how our bodies bounce back to normal. It took about two cycles before things felt normal again. |
| I think in general with a d & c (which I had at 10.5 weeks) it is intended to remove ALL the blood and tissue. If you bleed heavily soon after, this might be some indication the OB didn't get it all. When is your follow up? If it's not for another few days, call and go in. They need to make sure every thing is removed so you don't hemorrhage. |
+1. I had heavy bleeding for weeks after my D&C. They did an ultrasound and found a tiny spot of material that had not been removed. They had me give it a few more days before doing another D&C, and that did the trick. Sorry about your loss. Tough to deal with the bleeding while dealing with your emotions, too. It started to get better after I put the physical symptoms behind me. |
| I am so sorry for your loss. I went through the same thing, and the physical stuff just drags out the suffering. I had a D&C after a missed MC at 13 weeks. I had pretty heavy bleeding for about a week after the D&C, with continued moderate to light bleeding for another few weeks. For some reason it didn't really come out in the pad, but when I sat on the toilet, it gushed out. I called the doctor, and they said I only needed to worry/come in if I was soaking a heavy pad an hour. What you're experiencing sounds pretty normal for 3-4 days out, especially with a late first trimester MC. My sense is that people who have less bleeding generally had their miscarriages earlier. It couldn't hurt to call the doctor just to get some peace of mind that what you're experiencing is normal. It will get better, and I hope some relief comes soon! Hang in there! |
| Oh I am just so sorry! I had the same thing about two months ago and YES, I had not just bleeding but terrible blood clots. The doctor had to prescribe petossin in pill form to help my uterous contract. I have two small children and just did not rest like I should have. Please please stay off your feat and try to get some rest even if you feel like you can move around. |
| Yes, sadly I think this is normal. I had heavy bleeding for 2 weeks after, including clots sliding out when I was on the toilet. The doctor said this was 'to be expected'. Horrible horrible horrible. It does get better - physically and mentally. You find ways to manage and cope. |
| I echo what others have said... it's probably normal. I had heavy bleeding for most of the first week after a D&C around 13 weeks, and light bleeding continued until about 3.5 weeks. They told me to go in only if I soaked 1 heavy pad an hour. Don't hesitate to call your doctor if you have something weird happen. They will help you figure out if it's an issue or not. I'm so sorry for your loss. |
| i has my D and C done in April this year due to heavy bleeding. It stopped after D and C, however my cycle started in less than 20 days and still going on for more than 10 days. any experience to share |
| My doc said once your hormones drop to zero you can have more bleeding. I think this is in the normal range. Periods can be really different for some time. |
| I had a dnc June 26th. I have not stopped bleeding since. He gave me a 30day pack of birth control to see if it helped. It stopped for about 7 days and then while taking i started bleeding again. Now I am hemmorhaging. Sooo ready for it to stop and it is so bad that I am wearing two pads at a time. Waiting a few more days to see if perhaps this might be my forced real period but it has been over three months. They checked to see if there were baby remains and there were not. Not sure what else to try. Are there over the counter meds or herbs that can assist in the bleeding rather than resorting to progesterone. |
Woah. If I had been bleeding for 3 months post D & C, I'd be seeing a new doctor. Two pads at a time??? This is serious stuff. Entirely NOT normal. I bled after my D & C, but I think 3 months is extreme. Hemorrhaging is nothing to mess with. |
| I had a D & E at 18 weeks. The lost of a child is a horrific experience. I bled for 11 weeks and was put on birth control, but that only temporarily reduced my bleeding to spotting. I ended up on progesterone and it put my cycle back on track. I'm posting this so late because of other women that may use search engines to find answers to common questions. My best recommendation is to talk to your doctor and follow their advice. They know you want more children and will do everything they can to ensure your fertility and uterus are safe and healthy. |
| I had light to medium flow after my D&C for about a week. It was nothing crazy. However, my first period, 5 weeks later, was a MONSTER. I had to change a pad every hour for two days. At one point, 30 min after changing a pad, I soaked through and onto my couch. It was insane. So be aware of that, too, as I hear first periods after D&C are like this for many women. |
|
I had medium bleeding but then got some terrible clotting about a week later. I ended up having to go on a drug to pass the clots. If the flow doesn't seem to be stopping/slowing I'd call and get checked out.
So sorry OP -- I lost mine around the same time with a MMC and it was a rough time. Good luck with the emotional and physical recovery. |
