Capping Windows?

| We are looking to replace our old windows and are considering "capping" them (also known as wrapping). Any positive/negative experience or thoughts? |

Is this where you wrap the outside frame in vinyl AKA Vinyl wrapped windows?
If so, we have this. Its great, no need for exterior paint-ever, just a little wipe down with cleaning solution keeps it looking like new. |

| Yes, but in our case they would be using aluminum. Did they caulk it, and if so has the caulking held up? |

Yes, they caulked it. We had them done in 2002 and there are no signs of the caulk cracking. We have an old home and newcommers always ask us if our windows are brand new. Its a question we seem to get a lot-a bit odd, but I guess they must still look great.
Our wrapped windows are made to look like white painted wood. |
