| I bought a 12 pack of Kirklands red grapefruit cups at Costco yesterday, immediately forgetting that I got them from the refrigerated section of the store. They have been sitting in my kitchen unrefrigerated for about 20 hours now, and I just remembered that they need to be refrigerated (says so on the packaging). Ingredients are red grapefruit segments, reconstituted white grape juice, citric acid, ascorbic acid, sodium benzonate and potassium sorbate. Am assuming that the grape juice is why this must be refrigerated...should still be ok after 20 hours, yes? |

I'd eat them, well I wouldn't because I hate grapefruit, but otherwise no hesitation. |
|
SHold be absolutely fine.
|
| Contact Costco and ask |
| They're fine. |
| I don't even refrigerate mine and have never gotten sick. It no different than canning. |
I do refrigerate mine, because the label says to, but I've alway wondered why. The mandarin segments that I get in similar containers last months without refrigeration. Maybe they have preservatives that the grapefruit doesn't? I've never bothered to check. |

Don’t do it.
I did the same thing ...when you pop one open you may notice it is fizzy and bubbly. |
|
I did the same thing, but didn't realize my mistake until several of them exploded in my cabinet. So I wouldn't eat them based on that.
|
| I forgot to refrigerate mine and left them out for 2 days. Then I ate a container and later got very sick. Do not eat them. |
| With all of those additives I think you'd be fine. I'd be more concerned about the additives. |
This is the base for prison wine! |
What made you dig up a 3 year old thread? |
I dug it up because I was trying to find references to "My Kirkland Grapefruit cups exploded in my pantry". Now I have a huge mess to clean up
|
I'm surprised the sodium benzonate and potassium sorbate didn't keep it fresh. |
