Does Potomac not 'deny'? Seems everyone is listing wait list (same for us). Wondering about any experience with WL at Potomac?
|
I have seen a lot of w/l here today as well. Our kid was w/l for k last year and we never heard about a spot (for us or anyone else). Have heard anecdotes about movement, but no more. Have also seen that a couple of posters have not heard yet. Will be interesting to see if there is a geographic difference in acceptance rate. Some believe that Potomac is trying to expand its reach and may be accepting Non-VA applicants more than in the past. Good luck. |
| Ours was W/L for HS (not 9th) |
|
We live in NWDC and did not hear today. I assume its the mail system. I thought it was common knowledge that Potomac is trying to increase its enrollment numbers from DC and MD. They don't want to be viewed as a solely VA school.
That said, DS was accepted by his 1st choice so, if Potomac accepts him, it would be a spot for a WL candidate perhaps (7th). |
Not disagreeing, but common knowledge how? Wish they would have to,d us that in the app process; We are va and simply cant make taking a kid into dc every day possible. I guess we just aren't allowed to send our kid to private. Sorry -- frustrated. |
I understand your frustration. My child is older and at a private already so, maybe I just hear more "chatter" but the wisdom is it is hardest to get in to Potomac from NOVA. I am sure it does seem unfair but in order to be considered a top private school, Potomac has to draw from the full Washington, D.C. Area, not just Virginia. Unfortunately for Virginians, there are not a whole lot VA choices. |
| No word from Potomac here in Dc....guess will be Monday. |
| Mine got into Potomac off of the waiting list three years ago--4th. |
Can you tell me the timing of the move from WL to accept -- just curious to see if any experience with WL moves prior to June. |
| We were denied at Potomac for K |
| in my childs class the majority live in va |
It seems like the increased interest in out of va families is relatively new. |
my child is in first grade |
Not true. I'm a Potomac graduate, and even eons ago when I went there, this was the goal. Don't forget the school has its roots in DuPont/kalorama. I hope there is wl movement bc it's an amazing place. Good luck |
| OP here - still trying to determine if anyone at Potomac upper school level is ever denied? So far, I see only one poster denied and it was for K. There was an article on another forum at one point that quoted AD as not using the rejection word. Has anyone ever been denied, not WL, for upper school? |
