Pregnyl advice

Anonymous
Hi ladies - I am a return visitor to these boards. I did fertility treatments two years ago and have a 1 YO DD. We are now trying for #2 and I need to trigger tomorrow night. I still have flashbacks to hating the pregnyl shot (mostly b/c it would hurt to sit down for like 2 weeks AND because it would take my husband several minutes to inject me). I asked the nurse at Dominion today and she said it should be a lickety split shot - my husband says it's too thick for that - anyone have any thoughts? I googled and others said it was a slow shot too, so maybe the nurse has no idea? To manage the two weeks of pain, she said to heat the site afterwards for a few days to keep it from hurting (and no I am not a huge pain wimp!). I do always have them draw the target.

I just took Pregnyl last month with no problem and no residual pain. Did your H mix in the right amount of liquid? The mixture was not thick and it was a quick shot. My husband looked at the video on RE's website and YouTube for guidance.

Good luck, I hope it easier and less painful this time around for you!

It's not thick and it is as quick as the person wielding the needle makes it. Not sure why you hurt for 2 weeks unless your husband did something wrong as that is a bit extreme. The thick shot is the progesterone in oil shot and that one can hurt too.

Any chance he used the mixing needle? (I am assuming there is one like with novarel)

Ha all good questions for which I don't know the answer - I made him watch video twice and do it. I hid from the needle in the bedroom until injection time! However, we are triggering tonight and I have all of your comments prepped for him - btw I'm really not a huge wimp only took Advil/Tylenol after a c-section but boy does this area ache after the darn shot. Ill be telling him to speed it up!!!!

Op here - they called and moved my trigger to tonight instead if last night - now Monday for IUI - I peed on an opk and its almost positive do I pray we don't miss this egg

Well, if your IUI isn't until Monday, you can have good old regular sex tonight just to cover your bases. We always did with IUI anyway.

Op here - I have like zero cm so that's why the iuis - I have had two and both worked (one miscarriage) - so we probably will try sex just in case it might work - when I use pregnyl I can feel myself ovulate so ill know whether the IUI timing is ok or not

Ok OP here - he did the injection in like 2 seconds this time instead of two minutes - we realized he forgot to pause and draw up to see if there was blood in the syringe, but based on my googling that isn't really necessary anymore anyway - forgetting to do it made my arse hurt much less this time - I think that is what took so long the last time!!!
