600 homeless kids living in DC shelter...

Yes, it's shameful.

Good for DC for housing these kids. I'm shocked at how few of the homeless MD and VA suburbs are willing to house. When will they start pulling their weight?

You expect this audience to care? Haha. Right...

That was a crappy article. Read it earlier today. I have a hard time feeling sympathy for someone who knowingly has 13 kids. I think they could have found other folks who were more sympathetic to further the cause.

Read the article. They specifically discuss in the article what a good job Fairfax county is doing and how DC could learn from them

First off, you posted two links OP, so obviously someone is talking about it.

And secondly, I agree that it's a horribly written article.

Montgomery county won't let homeless families stay on the street. If apartments and family shelter space aren't available, then families are immediately put in motels. Trust me, DC is doing a far worse job than Montgomery and Fairfax.

I don't get what you're trying to say. You're obviously part of 'this audience'. Are you saying that you don't care? Sucks for you that you are so heartless, but don't speak for everyone.

Or the 19 year old who has a 5 year-old, 2 year-old, and 6 month old. I feel sorry for the kids but not the mom.

I'm not being rude and I'm deeply saddened by this article, but what exactly can we or I, do about this situation?

really? you don't feel sorry for a girl who had a child at the age of 14? yeah. she probably brought it on herself.

Contact your local elected officials as well as your member if congress. Demand that they address the situation. It is critical to demonstrate to elected officials that you won't tolerate this. Then, donate to a reputable service provider organization ---- one that provides housing and shelter (not all do) and has a proven track record of using money wisely.

i'm not the first pp, but i truly believe people like you (first pp) will end up with teen children who get pregnant. then maybe you'll get her an abortion and shut up.

LOL. As if. Congress doesn't care about the District's welfare. You do realize the District's status as the "last colony," right?
