Home daycare referrals

Hello Everyone,

My husband and I have signed our six month old son up for quite a few daycare centers. We are hopeful that he will get into one of these within the next ten months, but these waitlists are quite long. We are now considering putting him in a home daycare, preferably one in DC. Does anyone have any good recommendations they can share?

Thanks so much!

Hi, my husband and I had to make a very had decision if wether we are making the right thing to put our only first child to a center which I thought is always a big challenge for kids. Nannies are very convienient, but not enough cognitive kills learning and also cost more now. So I decided to stay home with him for eight months, during the time I found out about a home day care opening soon. The banner say curious explorers, and lives on the corner of Buchanan which is not far from where I live on Iowa St. So I asked my two girl friends because both of their children used to go a neighborhood day care called bright start child care center, it was OK and they said let's find out the owner. Both of them knew her at bright start and they told me that the parents and the owner were heart broken when she resigned. So I still continued to watched on her for 5 weeks and I said to my husband I have found the right care giver for my son. It took me too long but we are very pleased with care he is getting.

My name is Yvonne by the way, and good luck with your search.

Where are you looking for a home daycare? I would ask your neighborhood listserve for recommendations as well. DC requires home daycares to be licensed, so that's something I would look for as well.
