I'm not sure if anyone will be willing to share this information but I'm just entering my second trimester and beginning to feel anxious and depressed (not unusual for me). I'm wondering if anyone has any good therapists or psychiatrists they see in the area.
Thanks. |
Anne Lux is great. She is located not too far from Tysons Corner and has been in practice for a long time (yet is very "up" on current technology, medication etc). I find her very soothing and comforting without being sappy (if that makes sense)! |
do you have anne lux's contact info? i can't find her on google. thanks. |
I'm so sorry, I don't know why I didn't post that...duh.

I had to see a psychiatrist, too due to anxiety issues. My doc is within Kaiser, so his info would not be of much use unless you are a Kaiser member.
Not completely on topic, but I wanted to tell you that he said that the progesterone levels of pregnancy will make the symptoms of existing anxiety disorders worse. |
I guess it isn't surprising that pregnancy and the fluctuations in hormones would impact an existing anxiety disorder. It helps to hear that. Thanks! |
I saw Dr. Wendy Hookman in Rockville during my pregnancy - she's great! She was recommended by my OB.

I'd recommend Nancy Lithgow, who is a therapist, but not a psychiatrist. I saw her for a few years for grief/anxiety/depression issues. She also works with couples and with mothers & babies. She has offices on Capitol Hill and somewhere in upper NW DC. Call and leave her a message. Her phone number is: 202-543-7700. |
I'd recommend Robert Emma, MD. He is in Georgetown, between the river and the canal in the Paper Mill building. I have been seeing him for years and he is wonderful...I truly cannot recommend him highly enough. 202-337-0740 |
I saw Dr. Kelly Cozza in upper Connecticut Ave. in DC and thought she was great. Treated me for anxiety attacks and depression before I was pregnant. I was worried that it would come back when I was pregnant and had the baby but except for a few brief times, it hasn't. I think she taught me a lot about how to handle anxiety that was really useful. 301-442-0009. She does not take insurance but I believe my insurance reimbursed me for 60% of the cost of her sessions. |
