I was up for a promotion at work, but had been working for a difficult supervisor, who always made me feel like I was doing something wrong, even when my work product was fine.
As a result, they delayed my promotion for a few months. I was switched to a different supervisor, where thankfully, I have been doing quite well, even though there was a a drastic learning curve as I did not learn much under the first supervisor. I spent the past few months dreading every assignment, just waiting to screw up, like the first supervisor always made it seem. Today, I was informed that my promotion went through!! Thats an extra $10K a yr for me!! Also, I can now relax a little and not be so insecure over every assignment (although that seems to be sticking with me longer than necessary). Hopefully, I will continue learning and gain some confidence in my work. I had always done well and all the criticism from my previous supervisor totally shook me and contributed to some of my mistakes, i.e. when someone expects you to fail and tries to find flaws, its more likely to happen. |
| You got "a" promotion. Saying "my" promotion makes it sound like as if you feel entitled. Just FYI on how language is perceived. |

Way to go, PP. Shake OP's confidence even more.
Congrats, OP! Sounds well deserved. |
| Congratulations OP! I'm sure you deserve it. |
OP here In my office, 99% of the people at my level get this promotion. Occasionally, its delayed like mine was, but its pretty much a given that everyone will get there. So I did feel entitled to it, assuming I did the work, which I did! |
| OP congratulations! I got a promotion late last year but no $. |
| Congrats! |
| You rock, OP! |
is it really a promotion then? more responsibility with no monetary bump seems like your employer is bending you over. |
| Mazel tov! |
Congrats OP! You should go celebrate

Oh stuff it. I told my boss I was entitled to a promotion based on my performance. I got a $38,000 raise. |
and a pair of knee pads? |
LOL. No... but cute. |
Could be worse if you didn't get a promotion or monetary bump, and was expected to produce more and higher quality. It happens. |
