3 month old naps

Anonymous
Hi,

My 3 month DD (who was 5 weeks early..so she's a little behind on certain developmental things such as head control, opening hands, etc) will ONLY take naps in our arms for the last 2 weeks or so. As soon as we put her down she wakes up or only goes for another 20 mins or so. But if we hold her or I have her in my Moby she'll sleep for 1.5-2 hours if not a little more. She has no problem sleeping in her crib when it gets to bedtime..it's just during the day naps.

What can I do?? Help??

My own 3 month old DD is the same way. I've tried to put her down in her pack 'n play or crib in the daytime but she never falls asleep in those places unless it's bedtime at night. The only thing that has worked for us during the day is putting her in her swing with a pacifier. She'll sleep about an hour in that. The other thing is, I try to get out with her at least once a day and she always dozes while riding in the car or being walked in her stroller. That's usually her main naptime each day. Good luck!

Will she sleep in a swing or in her car seat (after walks and car rides)? My DD did the same thing and now she is 6 months and I would say about 50% of her naps are in her crib. The others are in her swing or car seat. I think it is the wierdest thing, because at night she does great. We just keep trying and trying, but I will get to a point where sleep is important no matter where it is.

My 8-week old is the same kind of day napper. She wakes herself up if I put her down. She'll sleep in a sling, in a MOVING car seat, but that's it during the day. She has a sixth sense about being placed down and wants to be on me all the time.

Her naps are also short--45 mins to an hour.

I wish I had some advice. I guess its more sympathy! She's very bad about sleeping at night, too, and prefers to sleep in her boppy in her crib rather than flat on her back anywhere.

I hope you get some good advice so I can learn from it, too!!!
