I have been pregnant or breastfeeding for the last 7 years.
I am on the pill which had been regulating my cycles. A few weeks ago I finally stopped the 1 nursing session that I was doing w my DS. I got my period 2 weeks ago and today the bleeding was similar to post pregnancy with some larger clots. I have read that it is not uncomon to have heavy periods after you stop nursing as your hormones re-balance. My question is what does "heavy bleeding" equate to? Thanks for any perspective |
| Well you could be different, but in my case, I clot like crazy now. My periods are still regularly spaced, however my obgyn thinks that the inordinate amount of clotting is due to uterine prolapse. I also sometimes have real heavy bleeds (gushers) and sometimes not. It's on predictable but I use the thickest pad now. |
| My first period post-weaning (both times) was the heaviest I've ever had. I had to wear a tampon and a pad and change both about once an hour. After that initial one they've gotten a bit lighter with less clots. I have noticed that since having kids my periods overall are heavier but shorter. |
