If you bought a $550,000 home- what is your household yearly income?

HI board,
I am just trying to figure out if we can afford such a price range. Thanks in advance!

250k. We put 20 % down. In the city close to metro.

190k, 0% down but that was 7 years a go , you want to stay 44% debt to income

$200,000 suburbs needed work. Much larger than what we could afford otherwise.

Our house was 540K. Our HHI was 140K at the time. 0 down VA loan. Interest rate is currently just under 4.

A little different, but we bought at 600K when our income was 195K, put 10% down. It's been fine.

$600k with HHI of $210k. (Though when we bought it was $190K). We got an FHA loan but refinanced 6 months later and the house was appraised at $720k. So we no longer had to pay mortgage insurance.

It's not the sale price, it's the mortgage. How much do you have to put down? What other debt and expenses are you carrying? We bought a $550k house, but we only took a $385k mortgage. We have no other debt, and paid off cars, but do have daycare for one more year. Our income is $125k. No way would we have stretched to $550k if we didn't have the 30% down. Calculate how much you can afford in mortgage payments, figure out how much you have to put down, and that will tell you how high you can go.

We are looking in that price range right now. HHI is $185 K, we have 20 percent to put down, no car or student debt and one child in full time daycare (for two more years) and one in aftercare and public school.

300k, 10% down.

190K, 0 down VA loan- but had to pay 10K earnest money deposit so loan is 535K at 3%

$330K. We put down 20%. Didn't want to be stuck with a large mortgage. We did a 15 year mortgage and almost have the house paid off in 3 years because with bonuses etc. we have left over. Other than the house we live like we did as poor college students.

I bought a $560K home with a $400K mortgage. (equity from previous home.) HHI is $100K in salary/bonus plus about $15K in child support. Finances were more comfortable when I had a renter in a spare bedroom, but we do ok without it.

Personally, I'd look at what you're paying now in rent or mortgage, add whatever you could pay and still be comfortable, and then see what that buys you in terms of mortgage/tax/interest. Also, don't forget maintenance costs, especially if buying an older home. I'm a Home Depot a LOT for my 70-year-old home.

Just spent $610 on 250k HHI with 30% down. We are financially conservative though.
