closest hospital to del ray

For those of you who are in Del Ray, which hospital is best for delivery?

Thanks!

I don't live in Del Ray but would have to say INOVA Fairfax is the best and closest to you. INOVA Alexandria is closer to you but a much smaller facility, of which I don't know anything about it's L and D dept.

Okay, the drive to INOVA Fairfax from Del Ray would suck. Plus it can be overcrowded at times, kind of a baby factory. And why slam Alexandria if you admit you don't know anything about it?

Look at the recent thread about Alexandria--lots of glowing reviews. And if you're inclined to go for a more natural childbirth, they're more supportive than Arlington, according to a doula we interviewed.

Geez, pp, why the aggressive post to me? I didn't *slam* Alexandria, I just said it was a community hospital. The reason I mentioned it is it IS the closest hospital to Del Ray.

I think some people just like to look to attack.

I live in Del Ray and plan to deliver at GW. We drive right by GW on the way to work every morning--not a long drive at all even in rush hour.

My experience with Arlington Hospital was very good, and the drive is not bad from Del Ray.

I live in Del Ray and am delivering at Sibley...not the most convenient, but since I go to Reiter Hill and they only deliver at Sibley or Gtown so be it. Most of my neighbors who live in Del Ray are delivering or have delivered at Inova Alexandria and have nothing but GREAT things to say....but they also had easy pregnancies.

Also, keep in mind that while Alexandria is convenient, Fairfax has one of the top NICUs on the East Coast...better than pretty much anywhere else around here except Childrens in DC. Gtown i've heard is also good. So, if you have any pregnancy complications...I would go right to Fairfax and find an OB or peri who delivers there.
