Yeast infection (TMI)

Anonymous
I have a yeast infection and began a 3-day treatment with monistat last night. I think I'm starting my period today. Instructions on the box say not to use with tampons. Does that mean just not after inserting the suppository (which I wouldn't do) or not at all during the course of treatment? Also, is there any point to treating this during my period, as it will only provide a moist environment for the yeast to grow?

Sorry you're dealing with this. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't use any tampons because the Monistat needs to be absorbed by your body and tampons interfere with that process.

I hated suppositories. Any way you can get an rx for fluconazole? It's a pill you take that clears it up. So much easier. I've found Monistat sometimes does not work

Thanks for your kind reply. Your advice was pretty much what I was thinking. I forgot about fluconazole. It's Saturday now and my doctor's office is closed. Guess I'll hope for the best.

I would finish out with the treatment if you started it and just use pads not tampons. It's only 3 days.
