Acupuncture to regulate menstrual cycles

Anonymous
I am 34, had a miscarriage in mid-December, and now am dealing with irregular periods. We've been evaluated by an RE, and nothing is wrong with either of us, so they recommend Clomid etc. However, ARTs may not be the best thing for us right now, since we're both dealing with significant career-related stress at the moment. I'd like to see if acupuncture could help in regulating my cycles. Does anyone have any experience/ success stories with this?
Thanks in advance.

Yes! Please try that before clomid. There have been recent news stories about how we don't know the long term effects of clomid on fetal development.

I had a m/c at 12 weeks last summer and have been going to an acupuncturist for about 3 months. My cycles have elongated to 28 days and I feel relaxed and, this sounds strange, but very much myself. The hormone up/down from being pregnant/ not being pregnant / dealing with a loss was a mess. I think the acupuncturist is very in tune with how my emotions are evident in my physical self and is helping me slowly and surely feel like I am ready to try again soon. sounds wacky, I know, but it's worth a try.

You're only 34 and if nothing is wrong as evaluated by an RE, then clomid sounds like a really extreme measure to take. Do you chart your temps?

Acupuncture has definitely worked for me! I started seeing my acupuncturist in November of last year, and have already seen a huge change in my periods and the length of my cycle. I also have a history of bruising on my stomach that is almost completely gone now since starting the acupuncture. I'm not pregnant yet, but I have a lot of hope that it wont be much longer.

I highly recommend acupuncture for irregular periods. It totally worked for me. The worst thing that can happen is you end up feeling relaxed and less stressed!

OP here - Thank you all for your responses and encouragement. I know there have been other threads on practitioners, but could you recommend yours as well?

Acupuncture didn't work for me but Chinese medicine did.

PP (22:10) here - I've been seeing Jennifer Bales at Round Belly Wellness in Alexandria, and I highly recommend her.

OP: Thank you all. I'm going to get cracking on this.
Do you typically start on a particular cycle day, or is anytime okay to start?

Good luck! I find it extremely relaxing.
Just jump on in - and let your practitioner know when your last period was and when you think you last ovulated. She/he will ask all sorts of questions and get you started!

Yeah Kate Yonkers, or her husband Kelly Welch. I went to them after an m/c. I swear the following cycle was much more regular, then three months later I was pregnant again! They got me started on two different teas as well. The are great about reading charts and working from what they find there, if you are charting. They got my short luteal phase all sorted out.
