Ok, how often does a kid really get their first choice in the Montgomery County Down County Consortium? We are considering moving to a neighborhood in the DCC but we know we want our kid to go to Blair and that's not the home school. Is there a chance we can actually get him in there? |
My two nephews and niece all got their first choice in the DCC, which was not their home school. They were in 9th grade in 2009 and 2010, and went to Northwood and Blair (home school was Einstein). |
Conversely, I've heard that if you put Einstein as your #1 choice, you are pretty likely to get it. Einstein has an IB program, although as 19:02 indicated, not everyone wants to go there. |
I'm 19:02 and my sister and I both went to Einstein. My sister's kids opted to follow their friends, if you are implying that they chose other schools based on Einstein reputation as a "bad" school. |
Why do you want your kid to go to Blair? |
I live in the DCC area. I know nothing about it - can anyone give me a thumbnail sketch of what's involved? Can a student really pick one of the DCC schools and just go wherever? |

Blair is the most popular choice right now in DCC, so very hard to get into based strictly on choice if it is not your home school. |
That may be true but I wonder if that is changing. I know a number of people who didn't put it as their top choice because it is enormous. |
DD did not want to go to Blair because it is huge with around 2800 students. She chose Northwood (half the size) as her first choice and got in. |
