Epic rebound happening once every 1-2 months. Would you switch meds?

Anonymous
DS has been on the same meds for about a year. He takes concerta and then ritalin as a short acting med in the afternoons. Normally he has minimal rebound with this combo. However, about once every 1-2 months the rebound is what I would consider epic (as in massive massive temper tantrum and anger like I have never seen before). I'm going to talk to the devel ped about this. I'm wondering though, if the med is otherwise doing it's job (and it's working well all other times), is it worth switching and trying a new one to avoid the one massive rebound he has every so often?

You could fiddle with drugs within the same class, maybe extended release versus immediate release, or adderall instead of concerta.

OP here. I forgot to mention that the concerta is extended release, but DS still needs the afternoon booster. Concerta was much better than focalin (but on the focalin the rebound was pretty bad daily). I am going to talk to the dp today.
