If you didn't prep for WISC...

... (and I mean not even through looking at similar questions) how did your DC do? I am not looking to start a discussion on prepping (or not prepping) so please be honest. Also, how did your DC do in the other tests (NNAT, FxAT) as compared to WISC?

I am asking because my DC took the WISC last week without knowing anything about it (on purpose). DC got a 142 (99%) in NNAT last year and a 85% in FxAT this year (with a strong quantitative and non-verbal score but just above average verbal), so we decided to do a totally unprepped WISC to figure out whether DC is really AAP material or not. However, I am now getting a bit nervous after reading all the posts about prepping and how well it worked for some.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

How did your kid do in WISC?

Took my kid in for Wisc last week. Don't have results yet. We didn't prep for anything. So...we'll see.

2 unprepped kids: 1 scored a 130 and the other a 108. It was roughly consistent with how they did on the CogAt.

No prep....143

Well, since you did not have the exact test questions in advance that carefully worded definition qualifies you as a non prepper.

The correlation (r) between COGAT and NNAT for English speaking kids from a research study:

CogAT verbal with quantitative 0.71
CogAT verbal with nonveral 0.64
CogAT quantitative with nonverval 0.66
Verbal with NNAT 0.44
Quantitative with NNAT 0.55
Nonverval with NNAT 0.65

The correlations are all sizable but contain a lot of measurement errors. I would assume a strong correlation between cogat and wisc at around r=0.85.

Ok, the correlation between cogat and wisc is about r=0.79, lower than I had thought. See the following link for the correlations and interpretations.

I read in the report that WISC normally is higher than CogAT. All the results you guys reported support that WISC is equal or higher than CogAT. The problem is that we don't know the actual score of FAT so it is hard to predict the WISC...

Years ago, didn't prep for any cognitive test.

Cogat 131
Wisc 134
