activities with 5 month old?

i'm lucky enough to get home every work day around 4. Baby goes to bed at 7. Husband gets home around 6. On the weekends, we generally take walks, go to museum, run errands, etc. I get stumped sometimes on what to do with the baby during these 3 hours. What do you all do with your infants? We read stories, of course, play with toys on the floor, take a bath (some nights), and let him play in the jumperoo (which he adores). Any other ideas?

mommy/baby yoga classes, baby story time at the library, when DC turns 6 months swimming, find a stay-at-home parenting group and join a "play group" which is mostly for the parents

That's about it. Plenty of floor time with toys (independently or with you), exersaucer/jumperoo, looking at books, singing, walks outside, etc. At that age even trips to the store are fascinating - take advantage of it!

PP, sorry I just realized your hours with DC was 4-7--probably no baby story times but you can always go to the library

You just described me down to the age and times. Where do you live? I've lusted for something for moms and babies that doesn't happen at 10 am. All the mommy and baby yoga (except for BF Ctr. yoga) are in the morning, as are all the story times, etc. We've gone to the library, but that is quite dull with a 5 month old. We go for walks, squeeze in one more short nap, and catch up on nursing, but that's about it.

I'd love to meet other moms with similar hours, but it's a little hard! We live in City of Alexandria.

FTM here: Curious to know what is it with the 10 am start time for everything.

We take a bath, read a story, sing songs, listen to music, and/or dance around the room. I also just put her in her bouncy seat or high chair and give her toys to play with independently while I make dinner or open the mail. She sits at the table with us while we eat dinner. She's usually winding down and getting a little tired, so it's mostly quiet play or independent play to let her wind down.
