How much sleep does your 6 month old get? What is your sleep and nap schedule?

DS sleeps about 9-10 hrs at night (8:00-8:30pm to 5:30-6:00am), and take 3 naps (at 8:30/9:00am, 12:30/1:00pm, and 4:30/5:00pm) for a total of 3-3.5 hours during the day. That means he's getting about 13-14 hrs of sleep each day.

Although he seems generally well-rested and is STTN with just one NF, we do still have bad days when he resists taking naps and gets pretty fussy during the day.

Just curious how much and when other babies are sleeping and how people know whether 3 naps-vs-2 naps and earlier-vs-later bedtime is right for their babies.

My 6 month old never really did the 3 nap thing. Maybe because I have a toddler and 3 naps at home would just logistically not happen. He put himself on this schedule around 4 months. He doesn't joke about the 6pm bedtime either and honestly, he would probably go down at 5:30 if I let him.

6:30/7am - wake up
9-10/10:30 - nap
1-3pm - nap
6pm - bedtime
1/2am - night feed

At the beginning of 6 months DC was taking 3 naps - one was usually about 1.5 hours and the other two were only 30 minutes. She was sleeping an average of 11.5 hours a night. It ended up being usually in the 13-14 hour range for total sleep as well, although I usually aimed to keep her time awake daily at around 9.5 hours.

Overnight sleep started to decrease a bit and all 3 naps shortened unless I pushed her to stay awake longer before the first nap, so we transitioned to 2 naps. Overnight sleep went back up and total nap length stayed at around 2.5 hours, some days even closer to 3.

As for bedtime we had it down to a science at that point because I'd learned the hard way that a bedtime before 6:30 or after 7 led to a wake-up 45 minutes after bedtime and in the 2 a.m.-ish timeframe from either treating bedtime like a nap (if too early) or being overtired (if too late). I learned that from about 2 months worth of observations.

15:18 here - I should add that she had dropped her NF most nights, though rarely would wake in between 4 and 5 a.m. for it. If she woke after 5 it often meant an early wake-up to the day and lower overnight sleep than usual.

DD is almost one but has been on the same schedule since 7 months--overnight 11.5 to 12 hours and two naps about two hours each so about 15.5 to 16 hours total. At 6 months she was still doing multiple catnaps and not on a good schedule. What strikes me is that 8 or 8:30 seems like a really late bedtime for a 6 month old. DD goes to sleep at 7:00 and that seems late to me but since she sleeps until 7 most days, it works. DS went to bed at 6 or 6:30 at that age because he woke up at 6am regardless of when he went to bed.

About 10.5 - 11 hours at night (8-630 or 7) and 2 or 2.5 naps (930-1015; 2-3 or 330; sometimes a 20 min catnap around 5 or 530.

8pm seems like a pretty normal bedtime for a baby with working parents.

DS sleeps from about 7-6:30-7 with one or two NF around 1/2 and again around 3/4. He naps at daycare everyday from 9-11 or 1130 and then again from 2-3 or so.
