Discouraged- two chemical pregnancies

Anonymous
I was pregnant in Novemeber and at 6.5 weeks or so had a miscarriage. This month I tested positive a week ago and started bleeding on Friday. The pregnancy tests are negative now. These were pregnancy number 5 and 6 and we have three beautiful children. I feel sad and like my body is betraying me a little bit. These chemical pregnancies have not bothered DH much, he had not gotten attached. And to be honest I was not invested in this most recent pregnancy yet either, it had only been a few days ! But still am worried about my fertility, or eggs- I have not had a problem getting pregnant but with three m/c out of six I am worried. Any advice?

Sorry to hear about this. How old are you?

37. Third baby at 35.

That sounds pretty normal for age 37. Your eggs are getting older, but given your three prior successful pregnancies the odds are still in your favor. I wouldn't worry too much.

I actually would talk to your OB. Three miscarriages isn't necessarily the norm; most women who have chemical pregnancies--or miscarriages for other reasons--go on to carry pregnancies to term. And 37 isn't that old, either.

I'm really sorry to hear about your losses, that must be tough. Hang in there.

Thanks to those that have replied, I don't think I am old either, so have been feeling extra betrayed. My first m/c was five years ago in between baby 1 and baby 2. These last two have happened almost back to back with one period in between. My periods are normal and I have never had any problems before now. I did make an appt with my OB for a follow up. I am wondering if my progesterone is low and that might be causing a problem.

I lost 3 pregnancies with the same timing as you. It turned out my progesterone was low. It took a lot of complaining to get my OB to test for it, but I had a successful pregnancy with Endometrim use in the first trimester.

Op here. Saw OB today. I am still having symptoms of pregnancy, sore breasts, nausea, he did not see anything on sono and ordered a blood test to confirm either way. Thought it might be too early to see much as i am just barely into fifth week. I did not bleed much and he was not convinced that I had a chemical. Of course I feel that it is a long shot and most of my symptoms are in my head but I am crossing fingers regardless. I will know on Monday.

This sounds like my situation. I had many MC. Turns out I had a blood issue and low progestr. I would def ask you dr. GOOD LUCK! I hope things get better for you.

37 is old in fertility years.

I would re-examine your family plans. Specifically whether a difficult pregnancy, special needs child, etc would put a strain on you or if it's still worth the risk.

Op here. To immediate pp, your advice is not well received. You assume that my partner and I have not had these discussions. You aren't helpful. That is a different post. Find another person to be rude to. I am specifically looking for advice on TTC, not AMA.

I had a LOT of chemicals. My doctor put me on baby aspirin (I was 35, I think) and I truly believe that is what did the trick for me. Sorry for your having to go through this - I know it really sucks.
