GDS: pre-K vs K

In a typical year, are there more non-siblings slots available in pre-K or K? Or are the numbers about the same?

It definitely varies year to year. I would say that the numbers are nearly the same, with a nod to slightly more sibling applications for K. Some families like the mixed class of the pre-K/K class because the kids get to stay with the same teaching team for two years, and because the kids get a chance to be the leaders in the class during their K year. Some families would rather not pay GDS-sized tuition for pre-K (especially if their kid is already in a good preschool) and instead wait until K. We started our oldest in K, and decided to wait for our younger child to apply for K as well. Of course there is no guarantee that the siblings will get in.
