Layoffs

Anonymous
I work at a good-sized non-profit. Every few years, we have a round of layoffs. And most of the people laid off are older, in their 50s and 60s. They are usually pleasant, helpful people who just don't have anyone above them looking out for them. And it just happened again yesterday. My job seems pretty safe, but this just bums me out. I really think we are badly run at the top. But maybe this is just how every organization works?

Anyway, just putting it out there because it's sad and disturbing to witness.

And do you think it is really different at any for-profit? Bottom line, no matter where you work, your age, race, gender, whatever, you need to get into revenue producing areas. Plain and simple.
