Are there any average kids left out there?

I have no doubt they exist, somewhere, but sure don't here on DCUM. If there are, please stand up and be counted. After all, this forum is Va Public Schools, not FCPS AAP schools and students. Not a sermon, just a thought.

I can assure you that parent views notwithstanding, most of the glorious kids on here are average.

Of course your child is brilliant. Aren't they all here in FCPS?

Two of them are upstairs blowing zerberts on each other amidst major giggle attacks.

sure, but being average doesn't keep them out of AAP

Got one! B's and C's, forgets some assignments and will get into a mediocre college. This worries me, but I have to keep telling myself that he will be fine, just fine.

Look around your self. Some of your friends making good living didnt necessarily go to top schools.
Doing well in math is a matter of pride; similar to doing well in midic; or in sports; or any other similar activity;
But it is not a necessity to do well in life.

This was me all the way through school. And my parents spent a lot of time in parent/teacher conferences, bless their hearts. I know they were worried. Then I got to college and excelled (I paid for most of it so I wanted to get the most bang for my bucks and applied myself much to my parents' shock and awe) and, after hopping around a couple of jobs, I went on to law school and did well there too! So don't worry, he will be fine!

There was a thread about this not too long ago. I'm looking for it.

Honestly, most people making a good living didn't go to top schools. I really don't understand why everyone thinks this is so critical to making a comfortable living.

Lotta very happy people who did not attend the ivy league. I have one struggler and one who does very well. Fast forward 20 years and I wonder where life will take them.

That was all before the Asians got here en masse. Everything is different now. Had 2 Asians in my entire graduating class. Now DC's AAP class is 70% Asian.
