Rugs over carpet (in kids' rooms)-- weird looking?

| We had hardwood floors in our old house and I bought really cute, colorful/decorative rugs for the kids' rooms. We just moved in to a new house where the upstairs is carpeted. It's very neutral beige/off-white carpet. I'm hoping to replace it with hardwoods eventually but it's going to be a while. Would it be weird to use the rugs on top of the carpet? The rooms look very plain without them, plus I like them and I spent the $ so I'd love to keep using. |

| We have some rugs over wall to wall, it looks fine. e haven't had any issues with them staying put, but they are the thicker kind. |
