Celexa and Lexapro

Anonymous
I am curious as to whether anyone has had a better experience on Celexa than Lexapro. I have been on Celexa successfully for a couple years, but switched to lexapro recently because of weight gain (my doc told me Lexapro is more "weight neutral"). I have been MUCH more depressed since then, but thought Lexapro was supposed to be better or at least equal to Celexa in terms of that. Anyone BTDT?

I dud not notice much weight difference on both. Had sexual side effects with celexa so switched to lexapro. I do feel more depressed on lexapro (10 mg)

NP here. PP, my doctor wants me to start taking lexapro. I'm wondering if it makes you feel more depressed, then why do you still take it? Thanks.

Celexa and Lexapro are related but different drugs. Lexapro tends to work better for anxiety; Celexa I believe is indicated where the issue is primarily depression. It's worth noting that everyone reacts to these medications differently. IF Lexapro isn't doing the job anymore, I'd suggest talking to your doctor about trying out a different antidepressant. Wellbutrin works for a lot of people and tends not result in weight gain. Another possibility is Zoloft.

I meant to say if Lexapro isn't doing the job.
