Yearbooks

Do you order a yearbook every year for your child? My child is in K and we got the order form last week. I wasn't planning on getting her one. What do you do?

We've gotten them for our kids every year (although only the last few have been in MCPS). I still have mine from years ago and look at them on occasion. Oddly the only years I don't have are K-3 when I went to MCPS.

We've gotten the ES one every year. Seems pricey for what it is but it helps support the PTA and the kids really enjoy it. We refer to it throughout the year when the kids talk about teachers or kids we don't know. Helps to put a face to the name.

I got one every year in ES for the same reasons as above. Last year I bought the MS and don't think it was worth it. Very few pages in a expensive hard cover. At my ES btw it was not a fund raiser for the PTA..so check with your school before thinking you are helping by buying one. Our PTA actaully susbsidized a bit for supplies..

I did not get DC one in K, 1st, or 2nd. I had always said I'd do it for 3rd grade and will be doing it this year. In hindsight, most of the kids in DC's 2nd grade class did get a yearbook and my own snowflake was sad he didn't have one.

I think it's very silly for the youngest kids to have a yearbook, but I do see the practicality of being able to refer to pictures and putting a face to the name (or vice-versa).

The yearbooks at our ES are about $30, which was a reason I wanted to wait until 3rd grade.

OP here. Thanks for the replies. The main reason I would consider it for my DD is that her brother automatically gets one at his school (note, they go to different schools and DS is older). I don't want DD to feel bad b/c he gets one and she doesn't. I also found out it's a PTA program, so I may just get the basic paperback version without all the fancy upgrades (hard cover, stickers etc...).
