Would you let your 15-year-old watch "South Park"?

I noticed my son had bought a few seasons, I had never watched it but heard it was pretty bad.

I watched a few episodes on TV, Oh My! It's just disgusting! I really don't like that my song watches this? He said I was making too big of a deal. Am I?

A 15 year old, yes.

Yes. He has, or at minimum has far more disgusting conversations with his friends. Not to mention the porn he is watching...

He's too old to control his television habits.

My DS watches sometimes and he's 13. Raw, yes, but also clever.

Ugh. This is why I hate this board. YES.

Stop overprotecting your children. They are going to be exposed to many things sooner or later. You don't need it all to be when they are 18 or out of your house and they seem like the ignorant naive mamas boy.

Yes your 13 or 14 year old can ride metro, yes your 15 year old can watch South Park, yes a lot of your teenagers are drinking and having sex. And a lot of them will turn out just fine.

No, I'm not a troll or a teenager, just a bit more realistic than a lot of the people on this board.

I thought this was a troll post...
Of course he can watch South Park. Loosen the apron strings a bit, sheesh...

"Let"? You have far bigger problems than a tv show.

Yep.

I definitely did not until MS, but by then, I let them. I do think it's funny although sometimes gross.

OP South Park is hilarious. Yes your 15 year old should watch it. You should see:

Um my kids watch South Park and they are not teenagers yet Close but not quite. Are you kidding ?
Anonymous
15, yes. I am waiting for the day my kid is old enough to watch this with me.

Family Guy, too, and it's much worse. At least SP tries to have some moral lesson. Both are hilarious, though, and we all love them.

I watched South Park with a 14 a few weeks ago, I was laughing at her reaction half of the time.

You should watch it together. Try not to show how out of touch you are with his sense of humor by NOT being disgusted. Treat it as as psychological experiment and bond with your son. Really, it is pretty funny, and quite clever even.

+1. 15 is a little old for you to be controlling what he watches. He's probably seen it online/at a friend's house, etc.

Of course. I would talk to your kid about making unauthorized iTunes purchases, though. Maybe a budget is in order? I would be kind of ticked if my DS was charging $40 here or there on my iTunes account without asking first.
