Somerset or private for K? (cross-post from Private School board)

| Trying to decide between Somerset and small private schools, but it has been hard since there isn't a lot of information on Somerset (they don't do an open house until April). If you've made this decision, could you share your reasons for going either way? Thanks a lot. |

| My child is at Somerset K. I would imagine that the big difference is the class size. My child's class is 23 students to 1 teacher. There are no aids or volunteers in the classroom. My child loves her environment, the school looks sparkling clean and new, but the class size issue has always bothered me... I am sure the student teacher ratio is much better in private so there would be more one on one attention. On the other hand, I suppose an environment like Somerset would instill self reliance in kids, which is not a bad thing. |
