I'm not the OP. Please don't put her down for asking the question. I think it's really important that the admissions process be transparent for all students/parents. It's not, so asking each other in this anonymous forum is the only way to get any info. MCPS doesn't currently provide much, if any, publicly available data about this process. If you have a child that applied, you will get a letter with some info about scores relative to the "mean of accepted students", but that is it. I had a child at a middle school magnet, and I ask all parents to share info. (I would, but it's been a few years so our data is not really relevant. But, at the time, I did share our data with a parent who wrote an appeal of an admissions decision. that child was admitted and did very well in the program.) Admissions people are not infalliable. Parents should have the data year over year so they can make their own judgements.

My DC was accepted into three programs at Poolesville last year along with RM IB. DC's Pearson percentile in math was 97% and in verbal was 96%. I want this data to be public, so that parents who are in the path of appeal can justify their request.

My DC was accepted into three programs at Poolesville last year along with RM IB. DC's Pearson percentile in math was 97% and in verbal was 96%. I want this data to be public, so that parents who are in the path of appeal can justify their request.

This is great. My child had 98 percentile in both subjects and didn't get in. What's your child'd name so I can appeal the decision to let your child in? What's up with that? Your child should not have got in over mine.

In the MS magnet at Eastern 2 years ago, she scored a hair below on the multiple choice, and scored several points above on the writing. She was wait-listed. Several others who were waitlisted pursued and appealed the magnet program, mainly during the summer while there was still some flux and movement going on. One stayed on the waitlist and moved in to the program in 7th grade.

OP, why, if you were accepted, are you raising the question? what's the underlying concern?

OP Here. There is no concern. I am just curious what the score looks like and how to make sense of the selection process. For kids who are wait listed and rejected, MCPS makes it look like it was about the test scores (probably it is, but it may not be). If all parents post the results we might come to understand the selection process a bit more.

OP here. I made the test score data public, however I will not make my DC's name public. Now it is upto you to appeal your child's rejection (not my child's selection). I do not believe my child was selected over yours (in specific terms). I am sure there would be legal ways to request data of all students selected and you can use the data to justify your appeal (for your child to be accepted).

This would be the way to get valid data, not some poll of half a dozen self-selected DCUMers.
