Bugaboo Bee vs. Frog - Experiences Please

Anonymous
We are being given a Bugaboo as a gift. That is the gift - no other stroller choice, only the kind of Bugaboo is open for decision.

Considerations: we live in a condo (not a lot of extra space) and will be doing lots of walking, riding the metro, weekly car rides, etc. I'm leaning towards the smaller Bee because past threads suggest it is much easier to fold and store. But it is hard not to be enticed by the features of the Frog. (I'm not considering the larger Chameleon.)

Some questions

1 - Are the Frog options worth it for the trade-off of folding difficulties? (again, if you didn't have to pay for it)

2 - Is the Bee TOO small? (We are not tall or large, so don't expect our child will be.) I don't want to end up with three different strollers, so I'm looking for a reliable option that will get us through different phases.

3 - Is it better to forego the Snap N' Go and buy the infant-seat conversion kit? Seems nearly expensive as a Snap N' Go, which seems much easier to use!

Any advice you can provide to this newbie will be much appreciated. The purchase date is coming soon!

What features on the Frog do you like that the Bee doesn't have?

I was wondering about the size of the Bee too, my friends think their daughter will only be able to fit in it till she's 2 years old (she's one now). I did ask a random lady in the store to have her daughter try it out and she was close to 4 years and fit in it fine (average height percentile).

I didn't consider the Frog mainly because living in the city and taking the metro the compact size of the Bee seems better suited. The two piece fold isn't ideal if you're out and about it seems (actually the video on the Bugaboo website even looks like that, you have to keep laying the stroller down to take off all the parts).

I'm thinking to just use the nest for the Bee in the first few months, I think it replaces the bassinet pretty well.

As for the wheels, we don't have that much snow in DC that it seems to be a problem to go with the smaller tires of the Bee.

Hi there,

I, too, was confused about the Buagaboo options. I'm due next week, so have had no real experience with my own child in a stroller, but from what I've heard/reseearched, one main difference is the wheels - I live in Georgetown with uneven sidewalks and it seems that the Frog or Chameleon would perhaps be better than the Bee. That might not be a concern for you. Because of the space issue, the Bee might be better for you - I used to live in Brooklyn, and former neighbors there (condo owners with limited space) absolutely loved the Bee. I have more space now, so we are keeping the Chameleon 'at the ready' near our front door, and the Graco frame in our car. Because it's easier to fold/keep the Bee in car, I'd probably skip the Graco frame if I were you.

Hope this helps and good luck!
