I've been trying to get a job with the SEC as an attorney for the past two years. I've started to wonder if they even are getting my applications. Out of all the positions I've applied to, my status was updated for only two positions (one was a rejection and that was an entire year after I applied and for the other position, I was referred to the selecting official maybe three months after I applied and I haven't gotten any updates since). For every other position I applied to, my status never changed from application received. I did get one interview last year but they were for positions posted outside the USAJOBS website. I was wondering if anyone has had a different experience and if there's any point in calling the hiring office to ask them about my application status
I am a new attorney at the SEC. I applied through USAJobs and had no other contacts at the agency.
OP here - Okay that gives me some hope! Would you mind telling me the timeline for getting hired? Thanks!
I'm on my phone so I can't link, but if you search for SEC, there's a whole thread on the SEC hiring process and how long it takes. It was about two months from application to interview and two weeks from interview to offer for me.

I'm the PP above. I should have added that there was a LONG delay after I got the offer before I got the HR paperwork and scheduled a start date, but I didn't really care about the delay once I knew I had the job.
The SEC used to let you send resumes to their offices directly (before USAJobs). I got at least 2 interviews that way. Once USAJobs started, I had no luck. I applied countless times. I think you have to know someone, although a PP was successful above.
