Hubby and I are trying to get away by ourselves for 4 nights or so. Direct flight from DC. Any gread PR or DR recs? We'd rather not be in kid-land on our quick getaway!

PR- I went to culebra (that and vieques are islands off the east coast), but just keep in mind that's another flight. Wonderful though, and less people.

Agree with PR. I've been to both PR and DR. PR is easier to get to (direct flights are available) and it is generally nicer than most places in DR.

Loved PR last weekend. El Conquistador resort. Fantastic. Ritz closer to the airport also supposed to be good.

El Conquistador is a dump. Having the Waldorf name attached to it is laughable. I know that you said DR or PR but I would much rather go to Mexico. Check out this place, looks wonderful

i love PR because you can get the full resort/beach exerience and still be right outside of San Juan - with old san juan, the bacardi factory, nice restuarants, etc. if you really just want some R&R/beach time and don't care about tourism/culture, DR will hands down have the best all-inclusive deals. RIU resorts are not especially kid-oriented and there are others as well that are not family centric. Sandals is adult only and some Club Meds are more adult oriented but they're pricier options.
