What stuff do you get at the hospital (Sibley) when you deliver?

I was wondering what stuff do you get when you deliver at the hospital that you can take home. I'm wondering about Sibley in particular since I'm delivering there.

I heard you could get stuff like bottles for pumping, basic diaper bag, sitzbath,....

shirt and hat for baby. swaddle cloth for baby. blub syringe for baby. plastic bowl for baby - we still use it as a bath toy. very basic plastic diaper bag with formula samples and some plastic bottles in it (mine was Similac) - you have to attend the discharge class to get this. sitz bath. pain relief spray for me. nursing bra (I bought them for the lactation consultant - not such a wide choice and not cheap).

Good luck!

We cleaned out everything in the bassinet. You've paid for it, so take it. That includes diapers, cotton pads and vasoline (for circumcised baby), everything the pp listed, two pacifiers, and a whole bunch of pads for me. The only thing we didn't take was the disposable underwear. It was comfy in the hospital but I couldn't bring myself to consider wearing them elsewhere. Also had a spray bottle for cleaning my stitches after using the restroom.

I don't remember pumping bottles, but did get formula samples and such, also similac.

Don't buy the bras from the lactation cart ... i was suckered into buying two of them and ended up hating them ... i was engorged at the hospital and when my breast size calmed down they were too big. What a waste.

I also took the Tucks pads- I didn't have any hemorrhoids but they and/or stitches from a vaginal delivery.

Most hospitals have a policy that once the item (whether sitz bath, diapers, washcloth from the bath, witch hazel cream) is removed from the stock room and placed in the post partem room it can not return to the stock room or used by someone else - it will get thrown out if not taken.

So, take what you can (minus the bedsheets and pillow) - I even took the mega plastic water mug. Still sip on it especially since it forces me to keep hydrated while bfing.

I also asked the LC and nurses for samples - I took home little tubes of nipple cream, Aqufor lotion for DS, etc. The complimentary diaper bag with goodies is also pretty traditional.

I delivered 3 years ago and got the diaper bag, couple diaper samples, a couple bottles of formula. I didn't get any pacis or lotion.

Is the diaper bag pretty decent? I haven't bought one yet.

I found the Sibley diaper bag to be perfect for use with the nanny and daycare.

Are you talking about freebies or things offered for sale? As for freebies, they stock your baby's hospital bassinett for everything you'll need while you're there and let you take home everything you didn't use: a few white t-shirts, any diapers you have left, burp cloths, a small supply of forumla, a plastic brush, a nasal aspirator, some samples of A&D. As for things you can purchase, Sibley's breastfeeding consultants rent pumps and sell nursing bras.

The cotton wipes in the hospital are fabulous! Ask for an extra pack, because you can't get them anywhere else.

You can also take a few swaddles and the shirts. I actually thought the long-sleeve kimono shirts were really cute and fit better than any newborn clothes we had.

They forced us to take the nose-bulb and a few other things like that, even though we had them at home.

I also really liked the squirt bottle (for me) for cleaning up in the bathroom. They gave me an extra (which I never used) which I now use in the kitchen now for sauces, dressings, etc!

Are all these goodies Sibley-specific or is this standard? What about GW?
