What is this nonsense? It reads like a parody written by. DCUM comedian.

"I want to push our continuous improvement work, intentionally bringing the customers (students and staff) to the table for all problem-solving, policy-making, priority-setting conversations. We must ensure the work continues to make every building and classroom a truly inclusive and affirming place, where everyone feels safe, welcome and valued. We must continue making Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) a Net Zero school system. We must ground every MCPS conversation in pragmatic common sense. We must ensure our system continuously works to revise and update all curricula – with students participating in the work – so our content is climate current, engaging, rigorous, fun and reflects the truth and experience of our very diverse community. "

" Those serving on the board must bring a broad perspective and believe MCPS should be grounded in a philosophy of “windows and mirrors” – where every student sees themselves and their culture reflected in the content and educational experience, and also gains a thoughtful understanding of the experiences of others. In that way we provide an education that creates critical thinkers and problem solvers who are ready for 21st-century global opportunities, truly believing that everyone has value. I will do that by continuously listening to the lived experience of our students and ensuring our antiracist work moves forward in a fully inclusive way to create not just an antiracist school system, but an antibias school system. "

Lynne Harris is a policy wonk. That's a good thing. She digs deep into lots of issues that have policy implications for students. You can't breeze through what she writes and that is OK.

LOL
She doesn’t dig at all. She is a fraud. A word salad does not mean she digs deep.

DP but I didn’t find that word salad at all. Maybe a little bit of jargon but was expecting worse

She thinks she can point to a red-sounding group name as a scare tactic.

But let's be clear that mom's 4 liberty is only for liberty for select groups of like-minded people.

Sure she has. Board members are specifically allowed to propose their own boundary alternatives. MCPS had excluded Laytonsville from any of the boundary options during the Harriet Tubman study, even though it's also within the Gaithersburg cluster and had the highest percentage of white students and a relatively low FARMS rate. A member who was out to prioritize diversity over the other factors would have objected to this, and presented an option which tried to better balance the demographics of all the cluster's schools. But instead, this was not a concern, because everyone understood that Laytonsville was too far away from Tubman, and it wouldn't make any sense to bus kids that distance for diversity's sake, even though it was within the same cluster. So, if a school in the same cluster is too far to be considered, why are people fretting about schools "halfway across the county" being considered?

I disagree. It’s the same 5 or 6 people with axes to grind. No one reads this stupid thread and makes a voting decision based on it.

I haven't gotten my covid shot since covid shot #3 since I also got covid every time and pretty badly. My doctor hasn't recommended that I get it either so I don't know how that makes anyone an antivaxxer. It doesn't work well.
I have never been in favor of vanning books until inread the books mcps had sent home for my child to read. Some of them are absolutely abhorrent. Sexual and filled with material that a child shouldn't be concerned with at their age.

The board is broken. I will vote for her.

The issue isn’t about continued vaccinations; it’s that she refused to get the mandated shots required by MCPS for returning to in-person learning. She also declined to wear a mask. She falsely claimed a religious exemption—when no religions advocate against vaccinations—and later cited medical reasons, for which she had no documentation. Additionally, she failed to show up for classes. Moreover, she has no relevant experience for this role. After a few years with MCPS, she moved on to other jobs and is essentially a glorified tutor. She lacks experience in budgeting, education, or related fields.

She’s fully anti vax not just covid. Hello polio Diaz is a RFK Jr Anti vax children will die .

The hypocrisy of the my body, my choice crowd.

I appreciated her thought experiment about making families “roll the dice” every year to see what school kids will attend each year in order to balance out demographics. That’s the kind of intelligent thought we need on the BOE.

That was actually from a conversation about how more people might look at MCPS as a school system overall, and work towards the improvement of all schools, rather than being hyper-focused on what's best for their own school or their own property values. Which is exactly the kind of thing a board member should be thinking about.

Which is exactly the best way to drive people of means out of the public schools and into private schools.
